Instead of giving you an excerpt, I thought I’d do something different and just as fun. I found an old interview with Danny, the handsome and devilish hero of my Angels and Demons/Sci-Fi Romantic Adventure, GANGBUSTERS.

Gangbusters - Book 3 of I-Marshal Stories

Daniel Tierney and his fellow I-Marshals take down the organizations producing the most dangerous substance in the Alliance. But reporter Faith Vedder turns up at the worst times, including Danny’s near-assassination. He’s had enough of her interference and requires her source of information.

Faith won’t tell him anything that compromises her Pulitzer-worthy story, not even under the magic of hot attraction. She doesn’t know she’s surrounded by fallen angels at war. Danny’s not finished making demands. She doesn’t understand until a giant, snorting, winged monster slobbers down her back, threatening to flay her.

The gangbusters can’t delay in their mission to shut down gangs until Danny learns the new criminal kingpin of their world is a man who once held Faith’s heart. In the guise of a gangland executioner named Heretic, Danny will destroy him. Even if it destroys Faith.

Angels are watching. Demons are plotting. Faith is the key.

Watch GANGBUSTERS’s book trailer:

Interview with a Demon Slayer: Danny of GANGBUSTERS

DEMONSEED DAILY: Thank you, readers, for stopping by. Today, I have I-Marshal Daniel Tierney in the hot seat. I should say, the Scorch Seat! Danny’s the hero of GANGBUSTERS, the sizzling, gritty, high-action Paranormal/Sci-Fi Romantic Adventure by Michele Hart. I understand GANGBUSTERS is the third installment of the I-MARSHAL STORIES series, tales of futuristic demon hunters and fallen angels at war.

DANNY: Yes. Angels, demons, lasers. GANGBUSTERS has secret technology, demonic possession, microchips, fistfights, teleportation, unholy resurrection, forbidden passion, assassination, doomed missions, daredevil antics, a battle for love against a Hell-spawned horde. Just everyday, on-the-job issues for a demon slayer.

DEMONSEED DAILY: I had the chance to speak with Faith, your heroine, and she told me to tease you as much as possible in payback for what you’d done to her the first night you’d met.

DANNY: (He chuckles uncomfortably.) She knows I love to torture demons, so she loves to torture me. She shouldn’t have told you any part of our first night since she’s aware secret technology was involved. I think she just wants a little spanking when I get home. Hint, hint to Faith, if you’re “listening”.

DEMONSEED DAILY: All right, let’s skip that part. Faith says you were angry all the time.

DANNY: I was. I fell for her on the job, anathema in my profession. Undercover cops can’t become emotionally involved with witnesses. We sure can’t fall for reporters seeking to bust our covers. That’s what she wanted to do the first night we met. And the second night we met. I just wanted to put her in the sheets of her bed and rock her world. Not being able to do so made me angry. I wanted to take her off the case, but every moment, she became more valuable. It’s not a good place for a man to be, watching the woman he cares for step into more and more danger. I knew the gangsters around her, and the monsters they really were. I was angry the woman I wanted would stir that pit of vipers. There was no stopping her. She’d wanted a Pulitzer. If not for my intervention, this story would’ve given her an ugly trip to an unmarked grave...about page ten. You can’t write a Pulitzer-worthy story beneath two meters of dirt.

DEMONSEED DAILY: (This journalist tugs at her collar.) No. No, you can’t. Faith had said you lost your mind when the criminal kingpin of your world kissed her hand.

DANNY: Metaphor. Lost my mind...cut the demon’s wings off, plugged all its goons, set the building afire.  Again, metaphors. Kicked that demon’s ass all over the mortal realm, dragged the monster to Hell, casted its filthy carcass into the bottomless pit. Dissolved its immortal spirit in the molten floes of the Abyss. Just metaphors. Theories, unprovable allegations. One couldn’t prove what really happened since there was no witness or evidence to the acts. Because I may or may not have been visible.

DEMONSEED DAILY: (This journalist's mouth went dry, and she took a gulp of water from a nearby bottle.) Faith said she didn’t believe in demons until she met you.

DANNY: She gives me too much credit. Faith was already bellybutton-deep in smoke-snorting fiends when I was contracted to kill her. She just likes to fantasize I put demons in her life. Faith, if you’re reading this, don’t forget how you got demon-slimed. I was light-years away when that happened, and you were the one who’d given a scumbag demon directions to our hide-out. Just pointing that out to aid your memory, baby. She loves it when I call her baby.

DEMONSEED DAILY: (This journalist considers Danny’s lively gray eyes, his salt-and-pepper hair, and his big, genetically gifted physique wrapped in speed-racing leathers.) I...don’t think I’d mind if you called me baby, either. Faith tells us the I-Marshals have a new weapon in the destruction of demons. Can you tell us about it?

DANNY: No. I can’t. Faith, we’ll be playing The Arrest Game tonight and having a long talk about what Alliance tech we’ll reveal to the public.

DEMONSEED DAILY: Faith tells us the I-Marshals possess invisible super-soldier suits, demon pistols, interstellar teleportation, healers, telekinetics, time wizards, dream walkers, other paranormal practitioners.

Danny retrieved his palm computer from his pocket and typed a text message.  A few seconds of ominous silence followed. A beep sounded from his palm comp, and Danny showed the DEMONSEED DAILY reporter a text message.

DANNY: Faith would like to rescind permission for you to use information given in her interview.

DEMONSEED DAILY: (This journalist shuffles her paperwork, perplexed.) Well, then...okay... Danny, what would you like to tell us about GANGBUSTERS?

DANNY: My team hunts down villains producing a drug that will open the entire galactic sector to boundless crime. How? It masks direct guilt detection by the fMRI lie-detection machines used by all Alliance law enforcement agencies. Without direct guilt detection, criminals walk free. Atop that, we learn a demon with a particular hatred for my team has discovered a way to come back from my destruction of him. Despite repeated slayings, Freak, a nasty spirit of obsession, returns on a mission to kill the gangbusters and take our women. Freak’s plans to sell that life-after-destruction process to the hordes of Hell sends us all—angels, demons, mortals—to violent confrontations. Resurrection sucks when the bad guys have it. It’s even worse when the biggest monster you ever knew wields emotional power over your woman.

DEMONSEED DAILY: That sounds perilous.

DANNY: Too perilous. We’d never intended to put Faith at so much risk. It almost cost her all. I’m very lucky to have her. No mortal should be forced to live a minute with the flames of Hell in her veins. You gotta read what happened.

DEMONSEED DAILY: I think I do! Give us a little tease for the other I-MARSHAL STORIES.

DANNY: (He rubs his strong, square jaw sprinkled with days-old stubble.) Let’s see... I’m not great at teasing.

DEMONSEED DAILY: Faith said you bring down demons as big as and half again your size, but you fall like monsoon rains for the slightest tease. She says it’s a weakness of yours.

DANNY: (He scowls.) Faith is an unreliable witness and bad at details!

DEMONSEED DAILY: She’s a trained investigative journalist.

DANNY: Faith is a very bad girl who is earning a bigger spanking with every passing minute of this interview. I-Marshal Stories teases...

LUMINOUS NIGHTS is about a lonely freighter captain traveling deep space who encounters a prison escapee claiming to be a famous—and dead—I-Marshal. But he’s really an avenging angel on a mass-murder mission, recovering stolen secret technology from the hands of the black market. Beware the chocolate scenes. A couple of reviewers said they’d never forget them.

VIGILANT is the story of a desperate young woman caught in a human-trafficking ring and the I-Marshal guarding her and watching a demon plan to savage her in a feast of revenge.

How about those teases? Tons of action in and out of steamy sheets. Thanks for the chance to chat about our story. It’s time for me to go.

DEMONSEED DAILY: Rushing off to slay demons?

DANNY: Rushing home to spank Faith. She’s asked for it and knows it’s coming. It was her motive and goal. She just wants my hands on her naked bottom, and I’ll be damned if I’ll disappoint her.

DEMONSEED DAILY: You aren’t angry with her, are you?

DANNY: Angry at Faith? Never. I almost lost her to the demon hordes. I’ll never waste our time being angry at her. I’m lucky to hold a woman brave enough to love a demon slayer. Besides, I know she’s my punishment for a life of sin. (He smiles slyly.) Have an action-packed day, everyone.

Will love cost Elissa all her dreams,
or will she leave The Real Thing behind for bullets, blood, and bodies?

You Never See Everything.

All shadows and mystery, Elissa Baker’s in hot pursuit of something bigger, uglier, and meaner than Greg Moretti, and she keeps her destiny with the scum of the Earth a closely guarded confidence. Only Greg--muscles, brains, and passion—can wreck her long-laid path by being Mister Right and refusing to let her go.
How can she resist her Latin lover’s dark-chocolate eyes always arresting her, his hypnotic lure stealing her soul, and dealing lusty persuasion like trump cards in a fixed bet?
Restauranteur Greg Moretti is crazy for a woman who leads a smoke-and-mirrors life. He’ll fix that by cooking up some heat, triggering a little hunger, and melting the ice-wall protecting her soul. Elissa will need to choose between Greg and the criminal world. What keeps her from his total consumption? Why does Elissa keep so many secrets?
Greg will take no hostages nor will he back down from his chase until he identifies his competition and makes Elissa want him more than her other distractions. Good boys can be bad too…and lethal to the heart.
The serendipitous solution to the cold-case murder of Greg’s father leads to a gun battle that changes everything. Who invited the Mob?
Someone’s going to lose, and someone’s going to die. Another someone.
Everything changes with the pull of a trigger. Nothing looks the same after this....

The Wine Thief

Elissa watched his suspicious green eyes roam the cocoa-and-white living room appreciatively. “Greg’s got some pad here,” he said.
His vision fixed on the cases of wine stacked beside the airport-lights sound system and flat-screen TV embedded into the wall. One would’ve thought the electronics would have drawn a thief’s eye.
He pointed the gun at the cases of wine stacked in the entryway, then back to her. “That’s what I’m looking for.”
“You’re holding me at gunpoint for wine? Some alcohol problem you have.”
The man cast her an angry snarl. “Shut up. Don’t be a problem, and you won’t get hurt.”
“I can do that,” she replied, keeping her hands in his sight as not to elicit a bullet. No reason to earn a gunshot wound. She was about to disarm him away, anyway.
Over the man’s shoulder, Elissa spotted the front door easing open, and she saw Greg stick his head in. He eyed the man, then slid back noiselessly behind the door. His sudden appearance changed everything.
Now Elissa wasn’t sure how to keep everyone from injury.
The stranger ordered her, “You’re going to pick up those cases and put them in the trunk of my car.”
Elissa shook her head, gambling, now hoping to exclude his gun from the action entirely, avoiding any physical struggle altogether. He’d need to put down the gun to pick up the wine. “I can’t lift them. I tried earlier.”
Her assailant gave her a nasty grimace. “What do you mean you can’t lift them? They can’t be over thirty pounds.”
She shrugged her shoulders, taking in his posture, sizing up his every move, an eye out for some advantage she could exploit or an unexpected aggressive motion. “I have a bad back. I’m bound to drop a case and shatter the bottles.”
Clearly frustrated, the man tucked the gun into his holster on his belt, exactly what she needed him to do. Then he grabbed hold of her upper arm and hauled her over to the window where he ripped the pull cord from the glass door’s mini-blinds. In his rough handling, she spotted Greg skulking through the front door to duck behind the island of the kitchen.
The wine thief shoved her to the floor at the metal-and-glass coffee table, and he wrapped the cord around her wrists without a fight from her. She focused on keeping her assailant’s attention on her so he wouldn’t pick up the small sounds of Greg passing over the tiled kitchen floor.
“You know, you can get help for the alcohol problem,” she said, watching over the gunman’s shoulder as Greg surfaced on the other side of the island and slipped into a door beyond.
“I know a few places you could get help. You just really have to commit to it—”
          “Shut up.”
          “Got ya, shutting up.”
Having tied her rather insecurely to the table, the armed man then grabbed hold of two of the stacked cases, one atop the other, and he hauled the cases outside. Wordless, she watched Greg slip from the bedroom, a Glock-22 semi-auto in his hand, and he sneaked back into the kitchen to press himself against the refrigerator, shielded by an entranceway wall.
Elissa took a deep breath and thought up a quick prayer. Why would someone, an armed someone, show up at a home to steal three cases of wine, passing up the nicest home theater system she’d ever seen?
When the man stepped back into the house for the third case, he passed the wall Greg hid behind. In one smooth motion, Greg stepped into the hall and pressed the muzzle to the back of the man’s head.
“Don’t move,” Greg told him, stopping the man cold, and the look of surprise on the gunman’s face was profound. “And I won’t shoot you. Move a muscle, and your brains are going to be my new decorating scheme.”
